KYBELLA TREATMENT

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Kybella administered?

Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist. At Aesthetic+Wellness, we are one of the pioneers with Kybella in our area and continue to be a leading practice for Kybella use. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin and along your jaw line, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fullness you have under your chin and your desired profile.

How many Kybella treatments sessions will I need?

Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. At Aesthetic+Wellness one of our trained clinicians will spend time with you during your consultation determining your desired outcome.  A treatment plan will then be customized to your specific needs. Most clients receive 2-4 treatments spaced about 6 weeks apart.

Will I need time to recover?

After your KYBELLA® treatment, it is very common to experience swelling, some discomfort, mild bruising and numbness to the treated area. Most of the swelling is improved after the first 4-5 days.

How long will it last?

When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA® causes the permanent destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment is not expected.

Is Kybella right for me?

Aesthetic + Wellness is one of the leading Kybella users in our area.  We bring that experience and expertise to your consultation and are able to determine the best aesthetic treatment for you.

What are the possible side effects?

Side effects are very rare with all of our treatments.  You can expect to see swelling and sometimes bruising as well as discomfort and numbness with your Kybella treatment.  Other, less common side effects include hair loss, open sores (ulcers) around the injection site or trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. In clinical studies, 100% of nerve injury in the jaw resolved on its own in an average of 6 weeks.

How does Kybella Work?

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® permanently destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile and jawline.

Are Kybella treatments affordable?

Kybella at Aesthetic+Wellness can be afforded on any budget with the option of payments as you go or Care Credit for 6 months no interest payments. The expertise and level of care provided, permanent result as well as the personalized treatment plans, make Kybella a treatment worth the cost.

How will I be charged for my Kybella treatment?

At Aesthetic+Wellness, we develop customized pricing based on the number of vials and the number of treatments you will need.  A discount is applied for purchasing multiple treatments as is recommended.

What are my payment options?

Aesthetic+Wellness accepts cash, checks, all major credit cards, and payments through Venmo and PayPal.

More About Kybella

KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells under the chin to improve your profile.  Both men and women may be affected by submental fullness, which can be caused by weight gain, genetics and aging. You don’t have to be overweight to have fullness under your chin. And sometimes, no matter how much you exercise or diet, the condition may not go away.  According to a 2015 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) 67% of people surveyed said they are bothered by the fat beneath their chin.

The Ideal Kybella candidate

The ideal candidate for a Kybella treatment has mild to moderate fullness under the chin and or fullness or sagging in the jaw line.  Kybella permanently destroys fat cells for men and women, so any area of unwanted fat can be improved with Kybella. Kybella is safe for all skin types and ethnicities. The ideal client will be in overall good health, fully understand the treatment process and have reasonable expectations of their result.

The Kybella Consultation

Before your Kybella procedure, you will have a consultation with one of Aesthetic+Wellness’s experienced injectors. This one-on-one time is vital for safe, satisfying aesthetic results. During this appointment, we will examine your skin, review your medical history, and discuss any current medications. We will explain the Kybella procedure, and what to expect from the treatment. If the assessment determines that Kybella is right for your needs, a unique treatment plan will be created and you can begin your Kybella regime immediately after the consultation.

The Kybella Procedure

A Kybella session will take less than half an hour to complete, from start to finish. During the brief exam, the targeted areas will be determined. KYBELLA® is administered as a series of injections to the treatment area under the chin and along the jaw line, destroying fat cells and producing gradual results. During the procedure, patients normally report feeling a slight pinch and pressure. As patient comfort level is extremely important to us here at Aesthetic+Wellness, a numbing agent is injected prior to the procedure. The injector will then meticulously apply your Kybella using a very fine needle.  The actual injections will take less than 10 minutes to complete.

Results from Kybella

Most clients experience swelling after their treatment that lasts for 4-5 days, up to 2 weeks.  You are able to return to normal activities the next day. Swelling and mild bruising may occur and worsen over the first 24 hours after your treatment and then begin to subside.  The swelling lasts an average of 4-5 days and is completely resolved around day 12.

While you may notice some benefits from your Kybella treatment after just a few weeks, the full effects will take two to three sessions to be appreciated. These results from Kybella are permanent and further treatments are not expected.
