Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Products we offer:

  • Juvederm Ultra: Juvederm Ultra is a beautiful, soft dermal filler that we generally use in the lips for a soft, natural lip augmentation.  It lasts about 12 months and can also be used for creases and folds around the lower face.
  • Juvederm Ultraplus: Juvederm Ultraplus is a slightly more robust product and is used for rebuilding structure where volume loss has occurred or for giving a more voluptuous lip. We love Ultraplus used in combination with Vollure in the lower face for creases and sagging. It lasts for about 12 months.
  • Juvederm Volbella: Juvederm Volbella is one of the newer products in the Juvederm family of fillers.  It is indicated for lines around the lips such as smokers lines or straw lines and can also be used to give a very natural augmentation to the lip when volume loss has occurred.  Volbella lasts about 9 months.
  • Juvederm Vollure: We like to call Vollure our “butter”  You can put it on anything and make it better! Vollure is great for replacing volume, filling lips, and improving lines and creases of the lower face.  Vollure is a client favorite because it lasts longer, up to 18months.
  • Juvederm Voluma: Voluma is the powerhouse of the filler family and is our favorite treatment for clients.  Voluma has the ability to lift, revolumize and hold up the cheeks.  Volume loss in the cheeks is one of the earliest signs of aging and begins showing itself under the eyes, in the midface and lower face.  Simply correcting the cheeks gives the most beautiful, natural overall improvement in the appearance of aging.  And, it lasts a full 24 months.
Not sure which product is right for you?  That’s what we are here for.  We have been using some of these products for over a decade.  We know exactly what they are capable of, what they are great at, and how to use them to get the most out of them.  When you come in for your consultation, we will review your options with you and together develop just the right treatment plan for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dermal fillers made of and are they safe?

Dermal fillers are made of a naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid (HA).  This substance occurs naturally in the body but begins to decrease as we age.  HA acts as a scaffold for the extracellular matrix providing structure, rigidity, hydration and turgor while allowing for cellular movement and regeneration.  Because HA is naturally occurring in the body,  HA fillers can be used very safely.  There is very little to no risk of allergic reaction and HA fillers can be completely reversed if (in rare cases) need be.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers work to fill space under the skin providing volume, lift, wrinkle and crease correction.  They can be used to resculpt, reshape and lift areas such as cheeks, lips and chin.

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

FDA approved areas include cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, creases and folds of the lower face, lines around the mouth and lip augmentation.  Other areas treated include under eyes, temples, jaw line and chin.

More about Dermal Fillers

The FDA-approved Juvederm family of dermal fillers are used to smooth out lines in your face and restore the youthful volume that can diminish over time. From the makers of Botox, the Juvederm fillers are used to refresh and revitalize your appearance.  The two main ingredients found in Juvederm dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by your body. It is a type of sugar that can hydrate the skin since it holds water, and it creates a kind of natural cushion that pumps up volume wherever it is injected. Lidocaine, the second ingredient, is a mild local anesthetic. This helps reduce any discomfort when the gel is injected into the skin.  The Juvederm family of fillers consists of several options, each with its  own properties to specifically address different needs, different areas, and different signs of aging.

Our aesthetic injectors at Aesthetic + Wellness have spent years using these fillers and are true experts in knowing which product to choose to get the best result for each individual client.

As we age, the tissues of our face will begin to lose elasticity and volume. The body naturally slows production of collagen and elastin, the primary building blocks of youthful skin. This breakdown is different for everyone, but happens to us all eventually. In addition to time, there are some lifestyle considerations that may contribute to the signs of aging.  These include: sun exposure, smoking, poor diet, drug use, illness, and some medications can also contribute to the breakdown of these youthful building blocks. This volume loss and lack of collagen and elastin can cause not only creases, folds and wrinkle, but sagging and hollowness in the cheeks, under eyes and temples.

Dermal Fillers Can Improve:

  • cheeks
  • lines, folds and creases around the mouth and nose
  • lips
  • under the eyes
  • temples
  • chin
  • jawline
  • hands
  • scar revisions
Performed alone, Juvederm dermal fillers will provide excellent results restoring moderate-to-severe volume loss in the face as well as wrinkle-reduction. For optimal facial rejuvenation, dermal fillers can be paired with botox as well as a great skincare routine.  The experts at Aesthetic+Wellness can advise you on the other treatments and services available to compliment the benefits of dermal fillers, and further improve the look of your skin.

The Ideal Dermal Filler Candidate

Dermal Fillers can successfully treat volume loss, wrinkles, creases for both men and women. Anyone frustrated by the early signs of aging may make a good candidate for the noninvasive treatment. Dermal fillers are  safe for all skin types and ethnicities. The ideal patient will be in overall good health, fully understand the treatment process, and have reasonable expectations for their results.

The Dermal Filler Consultation

Before your Dermal Filler procedure, you will have a consultation with one of Aesthetic + Wellness’ experienced injectors. This one-on-one time is vital for safe, satisfying aesthetic results. During this appointment, we will examine your skin, review your medical history, and discuss any current medications. We will spend time understanding your aesthetic concerns and goals and explaining the procedure as well as  what to expect from the treatment. If the assessment determines that Dermal Fillers are right for your needs, a unique treatment plan will be created and you can begin your Dermal Filler treatment immediately after the consultation.

The Dermal Filler Procedure

A Dermal Filler treatment session will take less than an hour to complete, from start to finish. During the brief exam, the targeted areas will be determined. The procedure is generally pain-free, patients normally report feeling a slight pinch and pressure. As patient comfort level is extremely important to us here at Aesthetic+Wellness, a topical numbing cream or injectable numbing can be can be administered.. The injector will then meticulously apply your Dermal Fillers using a very fine needle or cannula.

Results from Dermal Fillers

There is no downtime needed after a Dermal Filler treatment.  You are able to return to normal activities the same afternoon, although some clients may choose to take the remainder of the day as redness, slight swelling or bruising may occur. You can expect to notice the benefits of your dermal filler treatment immediately.   The full effects will take two to three weeks to be appreciated. These results from dermal fillers can be expected to last from 9-24 months depending on the area treated and the product chosen.  At this time additional treatment is needed to maintain your result.  Many clients choose to start with 2-4 syringes to establish a base treatment and then continue to build and maintain their result by adding product every 6-9 months.
